Stamps - Le Bich-Hoong (2004)Photo taken by my foster family with a stamp made of my handwriting saying "Le Bich-Hoong" which was my Vietnamese birth name.
After really examining my adoption papers for the first time I was stricken with how “official” the documents were, the black and white print that summed up my whole existence. It really made me think about how we were given names and titles. I felt Ineeded to stamp myself, almost as if I needed to verify who I was.
The stamps are ones made from my own handwriting and the other Chinese chops made while I was in Hong Kong. This act of text and repetition is a very common method I use in my work.
